The trail passes through breathtaking scenery, from the dense forests of the southern states to the alpine tundra of the north. You can visit the southern terminus at Springer Mountain and the northern terminus on top of Katahdin’s mountain. Great Smoky Mountains - The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a United States national park in Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. The park includes the highest elevations in the Eastern United States along the border between North Carolina and Tennessee, and offers a vast array of park activities.
